We have two signs in our yard. Well, three if you count the garden flag that says "grateful, thankful, blessed." The signs I'm talking about are campaign signs. You won't find a sign for every candidate of a certain party. And you won't find a sign endorsing anyone we do not know personally. So, this election season there are two: Frank Jones and Josie Barnhart, both of whom we have known for a very long time.

Frank and Sharon Jones are part of the group of families with whom we raised our children. Over the past 30 years we have worshiped together, eaten together, cheered at sporting events together, took prom and graduation pictures of our kids together, celebrated marriages and grandchildren together, and mourned the loss of parents and close friends together. You don't go through decades of these life-defining events without seeing every facet of a person's true character. And I can say with no hesitation that there are no finer people in the world than Frank, Sharon, Emily and Franklin Jones. When Frank was first elected judge, it made perfect sense. It is the role he has been training for his whole live. He has done a spectacular job and re-electing him still makes sense. If you know us but don't know him, please take our word for it: Frank Jones deserves the opportunity to continue to serve our community as Superior Court Judge. Please give him your vote of confidence.

We have known Josie and her family for many years as well. She is passionate and dedicated to the children of New Hanover County. During her tenure on the Board of Education, she has worked tirelessly to improve our schools to the benefit of the students. Under her leadership the students achieved the highest graduation percentage in a decade and the number of low performing schools dropped from 10 to 5. These are real results and Josie is the real deal. She is not interested in political posturing or grandstanding. We personally vouch for Josie's character and intent. Please vote to allow her to continue the good work she is doing for our children.

We cannot and will not comment on other candidates, for we do not have the same level of understanding of their values. I will simply close with the words of our Lord from Matthew 7:20, "By their fruit you will know them." Early voting ends tomorrow at 7 pm. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd. You know what to do. Selah.
